Finish every day as a winner

02 Dec

At deVere we’re all fortunate to work within a lively, positive, energetic environment, surrounded by passionate and determined colleagues, based in some of the most exciting and vibrant locations in the world.

I was in deVere Group’s New York base recently as part of my one of my ‘round the world trips’ visiting our offices.  I was chatting to the team there about the importance of setting daily goals and ensuring you achieve those goals by the end of the day.

One of the key rules I live by, and something which I have instilled into my children over the years is that it is paramount you finish every day as a winner.  If you have a negative experience or a meeting doesn’t go as well as hoped, then keep going.  Turn the situation around.  Why end the day on a sour note? Make another call, have another meeting, come out on top. Winning is a habit!

Each morning I set out my goals and have a clear vision of exactly what I want to achieve by the end of the day.  If I haven’t achieved them, then the day isn’t over.  I begin every week by determining what will make me succeed.

In my view there’s one word that sets winners apart.  That word is grit.  We all need grit and determination to succeed.  Grit is what keeps us going, and perseverance is key to success.

What motivates you, what drives you on? We all have different incentives, whether it be personal gain, family, friends a new top of the range sports car… Whatever your driving force is, focus on it every day, make it your mission, your purpose, your ‘raison d’etre’ and you will undoubtedly reach your goals.

“Success is the sum of small efforts – repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier

Here’s to a great final push of 2014! Finish the year winning !!

Winning is a habit !
